ON-LINE RACERS NEWSLETTER Friday, February 1, 2007... NHRA UPDATES TOP DRAGSTER AND TOP SPORTSMAN RULES. NHRA has updated the rules for both Top Dragster and Top Sportsman classes, including E.T. limits by division. T/D and T/S will both be conducted at the LODRS at Cordova in August. NHRA ANNOUNCES SEVERAL RULE CHANGES The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) announced several rule changes and updates as the 2008 rule book was released. Included in the rule changes is the follow: Oil-retention device: All vehicles running 7.49 or quicker must utilize an NHRA-accepted lower engine oil-retention device; may use a belly pan in lieu of a device attached to the engine. The belly pan must extend from frame rail to frame rail and extend forward of the harmonic balancer and rearward of the flywheel and must incorporate a minimum 2-inch-high lip on all sides. A nonflammable, oil-absorbent liner mandatory inside of retention device. See NHRA General Regulations 1:8. Cordova Dragway Park applauds NHRA for this rule update that will provide additional safety on the track. Thursday, June 21, 2007... NOTICE TO RACERS AND SPECTATORS TRAVELING ON I-88 FROM CHICAGO AREA: At Exit 18 on the Erie/Albany Road going west is temporarily closed for some bridge repair. The road closure should be completed by the end of July 2007.
OPTION 1: Please use Exit 36 and take Hwy 30 west to Hwy 84. Take Hwy 84 south 12 miles thru Albany, IL to Cordova Dragway. Highway 30 takes you thru Morrison, IL that has recently had its roads resurfaced for better traveling.
OPTION 2: Please use Exit 18 and go East (left) into Erie, IL. Watch the speed limit signs on the outside edge of town. Go into Erie and at the stop sign take a right on Moline Rd. About one block will be sign for Cordova, take a right at that sign. Follow the "Cordova Road" 13 miles to Hwy 84. At the stop sign take a right and go 3 miles north to Cordova Dragway. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 … The Midwest Bracket Alliance will follow the general class rules as posted on each tracks websites for each class. All vehicles must meet those rules to participate at each individual track. We have made an effort to make the rules as similar as possible between participating tracks. ET Breaks: Vehicles entered into the MBA Points Series will be allowed to participate at each track under these ET guidelines. Cedar Falls Raceway Eddyville Raceway Park Cordova Dragway Park Note: Entries running 11.50 - 12.49 ET in either of these classes must be officially entered into the MBA Series no later than May 16, to be allowed to run at Cordova Dragway Park in these classes on these dates. In addition, you may not enter an additional class with the same vehicle at CDP and points races. March 15,2007... CDP Rules CDP general rules and bracket class rules are being finalized at this time and should be posted later this week of the first part of next. December 22, 2006... Gates Open at Racing underway at Race or watch only $10 (test-tune/fun runs) Trophy Class $20 $1 Bloody Mary's (for those not in competition and 21 and over) Free Asprin at the gate plus a special door prize (while they last) Concession open in the heated "Interstate Batteries Cafe" Note: This race is designed for vehicles running 12.00 or slower. Because of cold weather conditions, vehicles faster than 12.00 may participate, however conditions are not guaranteed. November 14, 2006... The Saturday Sept. 23 race (OktoberFest Saturday) will be a Freefest 1/8 mile race. This will give those box and no-box racers that qualify to attend the bracket finals an opportunity to practice 1/8 mile racing. Remember entry fee will be only the fee to normally test/grudge race and the winner takes home a cool $1,000. The Reher-Morrison Frantic 14 will be quarter mile as usual. The Sunday, Sept 24 (OktoberFest Sunday) will be regular Quarter Max Points Series (final pts for 2006) with normal classes and quarter mile racing. The Summit Super Series Points deadline is this weekend. Therefore, the last race you can get "X" points at CDP is Saturday, Sept 9th. The Summit Super Series contingency program has ended. There will not be contingency on Saturday, Sept. 9th. CDP thanks all the racers who participated in the Series. August 21, 2006... August 15, 2006... Anthony Layne of Layne Automotive has sweetened the purse for this weekend Points Race. This weekend winners in Top, Mod, Super & Street classes who display the Layne Automotive decal on their vehicles will receive bonus money. Top and Mod winners will each receive $100 and the winners in Super and Street will each receive $50. Layne will have decals available at the track on Saturday for anyone wishing to participate. Beyer Motorsports out of Waterloo, IA will be filling nitrous bottles at the World Series starting Friday August 25. August 11, 2006... Reserved racer pit spots for the World Series - deadline to save your spot from last year is Saturday August 12th. Call the track or stop out to buy those spots. August 1, 2006... World Series of Drag Racing discounted advance entries are now being taken as well as reserved spots. Those racers that have reserved pit parking spots, need to have those renewed by August 12th or those spots will be sold to those waiting. July 25, 2006 ... Heartland Stock and SS Association has canceled the Association race on Saturday, August 5th because of a scheduling conflict. July 17, 2006 ... Effective immediately during the Reher-Morrison Frantic 14 races, a minimum of 20 minutes will be provided between rounds. This is from the time the last pair cross the finish line, till the next round is fired. Cordova will make every attempt to increase the time between rounds for maintenance of these vehicles. May 16,2006 The deadline to join and become a member of the QuarterMax Points program is Saturday May 20th. There is still time to get a Summit Super Series number also. For additional information click here. April 18, 2006 ... IHRA has clarified their position concerning helmets. If you run quicker than 11:50 E.T. you will required to use a SN 95 or newer helmet. The SN 90 helmet is still legal for those running slower than 11:50. We apologize for any inconvenience this matter might have caused. February 10, 2006... Paved spots for the Quarter Max Points Series are sold out for 2006. Should you be interested in obtaining a spot in the future, contact CDP to be put on the waiting list. December 28, 2005 ... Cordova Dragway Park is pleased to announce the return of the motorcycle class at all Quarter Max Points Races in 2006. The purse again will be based on the number of entries, therefore we encourage all bike racers to attend and invite others to join them.
