WORLD SERIES OF DRAG RACING

Worsham, Litton, Wilkerson and Head to Appear

The tradition will continue with the 59th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing on August 24-26, 2012 with a super star line-up of race drivers and teams.

NHRA TOP FUEL DRAGSTERS
The Top Fuel feature drivers will be two very popular veterans as Bruce Litton brings his Lucas Oil Special against Tommy Johnson Jr. “When considering what teams to bring in, I had to look at the fact that both of these drivers have made the best runs of anyone here at Cordova” said Scott Gardner

 

 

 

 

NHRA NITRO FUNNY CARS
Four of the untamed beasts of drag racing will appear at the 2012 World Series of Drag Racing. Headlining the program will be crowding favorite Tim Wilkerson from nearby Springfield, IL. Making his first World Series appearance will be Jon Capps (Brother of Ron Capps) behind the wheel of the Worsham Family Funny Car formerly driven by Del Worsham. Finishing out the show will be match race veterans Dale “Peanut” Creasy and Iowa’s only Nitro Funny Car racer Jack Wyatt.

DRO NOSTALGIA FUNNY CARS
The Drag Racing Online Nitro Funny Car Series rolls into Cordova with what nearly 16 entries expected. Headlining the field of 5-second floppers will be World Champion Del Worsham. In addition to Worsham, Chad Head will bring in the Head Racing Funny Car. Other powerhouse entries include Paul Romine, John Hale and more.

JETS & WHEELSTANDERS
The popular Jet Semi “Extreme Machine” will return to the O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing. The fiery show is one of the biggest spectacles in racing. In addition to the Jet Dragsters of Elaine Larsen (Miller Welding Special) versus Marisha Falk (Embry-Riddle University) plus Diamond Jim Crownhart (Jet Funny Car) and the debut of the Jet Fire Truck. The wheelstanders are crowd favorite Richard Hutchins “Chevy Rebellion” and originally to appear the Wheelie Wagon. Unfortunately, the Wheelie Wagon will not be in attendance after having recently having a very serious crash.

NITRO NOSTAGIA TOP FUEL & FUEL ALTEREDS
After a several year hiatus, the Nitro Fuel Altereds of Chicago Fire and Drastic Plastic will return to the Series. In addition, the front engine Top Fuel Dragsters of Dale Suhr and Dragster Dave will be here as well.

SPECIAL EXHIBITION AND FEATURES
The wild wheestanding Midwest Super Stock Mafia are back as well as local favorite Arnie the Farmer Beswick in a special match race. Plus the Midwest Nostalgia Gassers and much more.

Plan now to attend this spectacular event. The O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series is the oldest continuous drag race in the World as well as one of the last truly independent national drag races. In addition to the Professional Drivers and Feature Cars, the World Series will have more than 400 sportsman entries!
