WORLD SERIES OF DRAG RACING
SET WITH STELLAR LINE-UP

The 58th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing is August 25-28, 2011 at Cordova Dragway Park, Cordova, Illinois. The event known as the “Granddaddy of Them All” remains not the only oldest continuous drag race in the World but the largest independent event as well.

Headlining the 2011 spectacular is the return of four powerful NHRA Top Fuel Dragsters shooting for 300 miles per hour on a 1000 foot blast down the famed dragstrip. The Top Fuel Drivers include former IHRA Champions Clay Millican and Bruce Litton, the oldest active driver on the NHRA Circuit Chris ‘The Golden Greek” Karamesines and veteran Tommy Johnson Jr fresh off several European Tour wins. In Nitro Funny Car action it’s crowd favorite Tim Wilkerson, fresh off a Runner-Up at the NHRA Sonoma National Event who will face upstart Dale Creasy Jr.

Not to be outdone will be the DRO Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars presented by Mickey Thompson Tires. This is the final points event for the DRO Funny Car Series and more than a dozen entries are expected to attend. Also new to the event will be the Chris Duncan Race Cars Pro-Mod Super Series. The Pro-Mods race 660 feet as these Supercharged and Nitrous monsters shoot for 200 mph.    

Of course the World Series would not be the biggest and best without a full slate of Jets Cars and Wheelstanders. Also, the crowd pleasing Midwest Super Stock Mafia are back as well as Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick and Animal Jim. In addition the Victory Performance Nostalgia Super Stocks will be here along with Nitro front engine Top Fuel Dragsters, Nitro Fueled Altereds and much more.

Serving as Grand Marshal for the 58th World Series is the number one drag racer of all time “Big Daddy” Don Garlits. He will be in attendance bringing along one his famous Swamp Rat Dragsters and his NHRA Stock Eliminator Dodge.

The Night of Thrills kicks off the World Series feature shows on Friday, August 26 with DRO Nitro Funny Car qualifying, Chris Duncan Pro-Mod Super Series qualifying, Jets, Wheelstanders and more. Show time is 7 PM.  The Pro Finale featuring the entire World Series Pro Series Cars will be Saturday, August 27 with show time again at 7 PM. More information is at www.cordovadrag.com
