Cordova Dragway Becomes Winter Wonderland of Racing

This Sunday, January 1, 2012 (New Year’s Day) is when Cordova Dragway Park transforms into a Winter Wonderland of Racing. “We began doing the New Year’s race more than 10 years ago and have only had to cancel a couple of events do to weather and thankfully everything looks positive for this year’s event with temperatures near 40 degrees” said Track Operator Scott Gardner.

Gates Open at 10 AM with open racing for everyone. “This event is designed to bring out your car, motorcycle or truck and race it down the famed quarter-mile drag strip” mentioned Gardner. “We encourage everyone to come on out a try drag racing; they will love it”

Racing gets underway at 11 AM and will go into the mid-afternoon.  In addition to racing, the heated Interstate Batteries Café will be open with great food specials along with the debut of “Zoomies Pub.” For those not racing there will also be $1 Bloody Mary’s and for those who might have had a long New Years Eve there will also be free aspirin at the gate. The first 250 fans or racers will also get Cordova Dragway Park HangoverFest Stadium Cup.
