2011 SEASON COMES TO END ON HIGH NOTE

The 2011 season ended at Cordova Dragway Park on Saturday, November 5th with decent weather conditions and a good participant count. "We ended a bit early to take advantage of hopefully some decent days to get grounds work completed before winter officially arrives" said Scott Gardner.

While the economy presented a challenge to racing in 2011, generally speaking Cordova Dragway Park weathered the storm. The ladies bathroom project was completed with a price tag of just under $100,000. The costs skyrocketed with the addition of a new septic system and deep water well. "The ladies bathroom is the beginning of a multi-year upgrade project, mentioned Gardner, and now the guys facility has doubled in size with the use of both sides of the block building, but still needs updating which is planned in the future."

In addition to the facility upgrades, racing again thrived in many areas. The 58th O'Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing was one of the best in the books. With nearly ideal weather conditions, good racer counts, a big crowd and outstanding performances we could only be thankful for this event which really salvaged year with a lot of spring rain and challenges.

The next race date is the HangoverFest XI which is scheduled for Sunday, January 1, 2012 weather permitting. "The cold temperatures in not the main factor to determine if we race" continued Gardner, "but more if we have a lot of snowfall before hand." Please keep an eye on this website on plans for that event.

The 2011 Championship Awards Banquet date will be announced soon as final decisions are now being made on exact date and location.

Cordova Dragway Park staff and management wish to thank everyone who supported the facility in 2011. Without the support of the sponsors, racers and fans we wouldn't still be in business. Thanks again!
