WORLD SERIES OF DRAG RACING HEADLINES AT CORDOVA DRAGWAY PARK Cordova Dragway Park will host the “Oldest Continuous Drag Race in the World” on August 24-26, 2007. The World Series presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts is one of a very few major independent events remaining. More than 500 race teams including 70 professional teams will be racing for valuable points and cash awards. Headlining in the professional classes in Top Fuel will be Chris “The Golden Greek” Karamesines from Chicago, Illinois. His competition will be Mike Strasburg in the B & J Transmission entry from Utah. Strasburg who has attended seven NHRA National Events so far in 2007 has ran as quick as 4.51 seconds and looks to re-set the current Cordova track record of 4.60. In Nitro Funny Car, the CSK sponsored cars of Del Worsham and Jeff Arend will race against Illinois racer Tim Wilkerson and Iowa’s only Nitro Funny Car, Jack Wyatt. Worsham comes in after posting a number one qualifying effort at the NHRA National Event in PA. In addition to Top Fuel and Nitro Funny Car, the World Series will feature Nitro Nostalgia Top Fuel and Funny Car, Nitro Fueled Altereds, Jets, Wheelstanders and much more. Tickets at the gate are adults $20 for Friday and $35 for Saturday. Children (6-12) are $5 each day. All tickets include parking and a pit pass. Advance discounted tickets are available at participating O’Reilly Auto Parts locations. Cordova Dragway Park is located 3 miles north of Cordova, Illinois on Highway #84.
